Autumn is here.

This week’s song is from Monkyman
or Felix Spitta.
It’s also on YouTube
How would you call this genre? Is this Ambient?
One of his longer tracks is what I am hearing while writing this.

We had to postpone the episode on seizure of mobile phones again, as the draft law is still not available.
The two other episodes were streamed as planned.
Marc Boverman spoke about (lack of) content moderation on Twitter.
The issue is getting more important than ever when one sees how directly Musk intervenes in the US-presidential elections and how much impact some of his (creepy) posts can generate (more than 100 Mio views, here).
The second episode was about Telegam and Pavel Durov.
Clara Saillant - who is French and has been working at the department - told us much on how little we know about the case’s background. For me, this looks very much like an attempt to hit him early and heavily for some kind of non-cooperation. This is somehow also what Durov himself states on his Telegram Channel.
Re-Constituting Subsidiarity in the Digital Age
I joined a very remarkable breakfast lecture organised by the department’s team.
Nicole West Bassof from Harvard spoke about smart cities and their regulation, in particular on 5G-regulation from an STS-point of view.
Well deserved credit was given to John Perry Barlow’s Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace
Prospect
Conferences and Gigs
Three very interesting events are ahead:
On Friday, September 13th, Women in law - in particular with Adriana and Hande:
On Wednesday, September 18th, “Transferring data out of the European Union”
And on Saturday, September 21st: Data Protection and Criminal Law:

Two interviews are in the pipeline.
First, I will finally do the interview with Shirin Ghazanfaris, most likely on Wednesday evening. Please check YouTube, Twitter etc, for the final schedule.
The moment I am writing this it looks, as stated, very much as we will still not have a proposed law then - but plenty of question on what will happen if this government really fails to bring this into existence within the period addigned by the Constitutional Court.
On Tuesday afternoon, at 17.00 CET, we will deal with AI and the future of legal profession. My conversation partners Hande and Adriana are both working at the department, the topic is connected with the women in law conference both spoke at that I mentioned above.
Both, Adriana and Hande, also contributed to our GDPR-conference in May that Martin Selmayer was so kind to (mainly) organise.
Here’s Hande and here’s Adriana. I feel very gifted and privileged to work with so many so smart people such as Adriana, Clara and Hande.
Look and Feel
Nick Drake
I watched a Nick Drake documentary that I liked a lot, mainly because of the music and his sister’s interview remembering him in her beautiful British accent. It’s a very sad film, though.
He wrote some of the most beautiful songs I ever had the privilege to listen to that have been accompanying me for so many years now.
Mouhamed Dramé
I listened to an excellent WDR-Podcast on Mouhamed Dramé who was shot by Gerrman Police (some info on Wikipedia). The seven episodes touch many intersting and relevant points of police work in Germany. It’s also the first time that I hear a person “speaking” German although she doesn’t speak the language at all. The French original is translated into a German equivalent by an AI-supported programme in several of the podcast’s episodes.
Daisy
is focused on things to come (mainly rain, unfortunately).
