Prospect

On Tuesday, October 10th, at 18.00 CEST, we speak with Dr. Golda Schlaff on her open letter to the Austrian Medical Association on #Covid19 (in German).
And on Friday, October 13th, at 18.30 CEST we are proud to welcome Prof. DDr. Oliver Rathkolb, one of Austria’s most prominent historians, speaking about his legal education and its impact on his historical work (in German).
Data Act and GDPR
On October 12th 2023, at 17.00 CEST, Dr. Žiga Škorjanc, Natalie Ségur-Cabanac, Dr. Klaus Steinmaurer, Dr. Andreas Zavadil and me, we are prod to host a conference on the interplay between GDPR and Data Act (in German).
Keynote speaker is Stefan Pinelli, Head of Digital Law at Volkswagen.

Rust
On Friday, October 13th, I am also on a panel on AI at the Conference “Rust 2023”.
Starting at 12.45, Clemens Hasenauer, CERHA HEMPEL, Jeannette Gorzala, JGO Legal, Wolfgang Zankl, Universität Wien and myself will discuss on “KI – GAMECHANGER, PLAGIAT ODER BEDROHUNG?” (in German).

PHD-Defence
Dr. Catherine Altobelli defended her PHD on “A Tangled Web of Rights: the Interplay of Copyright and Data Protection”.

Retreat
The Department went on a retreat alltogether, discussing fundamental questions of our research programme, way of collaboration, strategic mission and so on.
Daisy, the dog was there too and had a very positive impact on our mood.
